We are grateful to Dr. Bernhard Schnackenburg for confirming the attribution after inspection of the original (verbal communication, 20 February 2007). He points out that it is an early work datable to circa 1640 and can be compared to a painting, dated 1639, with Sotheby's, London, 3 July 1991, lot 34.
