Lot Essay

The quotation on this particular vase derives from the poetry of one of Gallé's contemporaries, Nancy writer Emile Hinzelin (1858 - 1937). Hinzelin was famous for his patriotic works on the subject of Alsace Lorraine such as Coeurs d'Alsace et de Lorraine and a three-volume work on World War One.
