Lot Essay

The bronze disc to the underside of the marble plinth is the mark of Les Neveux de J Lehmann. Lehmann had a foundry in the rue de Paradis, Paris. The company commissioned Chiparus to design sculptures for them to produce and sell through their boutique at 14, Avenue de l'Opera.
