Conor rarely painted scenes that included animals, preferring figurative depictions of Irish nationals. Yet this scene, depicting the popular pastime of greyhound racing, exemplifies Conor's talent for capturing movement and life, and indeed, demonstrates why this artist is often associated with the English Impressionism that dominated the arts in the late 19th Century.
