A German and two Bohemian engraved beakers
18TH CENTURY
The first in Matt und Tiefschnitt with a continuous scene of a rooster mating with a hen and further with a nun and a monk beside churches, inscribed Schwester Clara Soll ich diriekt auch thun wie der Hahn die Henne thut 'Sister Clara shall i do the same as the rooster with the hen' and Bruder Anthon in der Sachen bin ich ein Kind was du aber wilt thun das mache geswind 'Brother Anthon, in these matters I am a child but what you want to do, do it fast', above a band of stiff leaves (crizzling), 10.7 cm. high; a beaker with arcaded panels, one with a running fox inscribed fücks weck von Loche, 'fox gone from lair', one with a nude maiden and a stork inscribed kom fogel doche 'come bird do', 12.6 cm. high; and a beaker with stylised foliage, 14.5 cm. high (3)
