Lot Essay

This vessel commemorates an episode from the Belgian Secession from the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 1830. General Chassé remained faithful to the legal powers and held the fortress or Kasteel of Antwerp for the Dutch, giving orders to bomb the city from the fortress. The final retreat took place in 1832.
