Lithographed frontispiece in each volume, 130 lithographed & wood-engraved plates, of which 105 are hand-coloured or tinted, 3 lithographed maps (lacking half titles, bottom fore-egde of vol. I heavily bumped, causing creasing (pp. 50-252) and tears in lower margin (pp. 133-252) of text and plates, some spotting, heavier at beginning and end of vol. I). Contemporary half calf, original front wrappers of parts bound-in at end of each vol. (some skillful repairs, covers of vol. I detached, quite rubbed). Anker 432; cf. Zimmer p.533 and Nissen IVB 798, both calling for 66 plates in the first volume. Volume one of this copy accords with the plate list as well as the collation given in Anker, having 41 plates including the frontispiece. Sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return.
