Original brown buckram, spines lettered in gilt, top edges gilt (some light scuffing and rubbing). Provenance: SIR GILES LODER, BART. (armorial bookplate). FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, with a photograph of the author laid down at the front of vol. I and inscribed, "Very sincerely, yours 'Jack' Walpole-Bond" and "The Author reading the ms. of 'A History of Sussex Birds', December 1937. To N.B.C. from "Jack" W.-B." Tipped-in at the front of vol. I is an autograph errata leaf in the hand of the author inscribed, "Humanum est errare. And 'As man who never made a mistake never made anything'. But nonetheless some of above show rank carelessness. J. W.-B." (3)
