Lot Essay

From her launch in 1893 right through to the 1930s, the Royal racing yacht Britannia achieved an unequalled level of success. However, despite being re-rigged to a Bermudan sail plan, she was no match for the newly introduced 'J' class yachts, especially when beating to windward.
