YOUNG CAPTAIN TRUMAN "OVER THERE". A fine World War I photo of Truman, taken one month after the Armistice. The future President had a brief but distinguished military career. Elected a lieutenant by his fellow soldiers during their training, Truman won the praise of his superiors for his efficiency and obvious command abilities. Eventually promoted to Captain, he led his battery into combat at the Vosges and during the Argonne offensive. SIGNED PHOTOGRAPHS OF TRUMAN'S WARTIME SERVICE ARE COMPARATIVELY RARE.
