Descriptif du lot

Thomas Duncan, along with fellow artists Sir George Harvey, James Drummond and William Dyce, was very much influenced by Sir David Wilkie in painting events from the history of the Scottish Reformation and the later struggles of Prince Charles Edward Stuart, who is shown here entering Edinburgh with his Highland Army in 1745 in an attempt to capture the city.
