The present view is from George Service's house at Cove, Dunbartonshire, looking towards Loch Long. George Service, a Glasgow shipowner whom Cadell had first met on Iona in 1913, was to become one of Cadell's most important patrons. Over the years he bought more than 150 works by Cadell, including a great many of Iona. The artist would often stay with the Service's in their large house in Cove, and also on their yacht, sailing around the Western Isles.
