Lot Essay

Hunter was friends with the actor Sir Charles B. Cochran, who was performing in a production of 'Evergreen' at the King's Theatre, Glasgow, in the late 1920s. Cochran was an avid art collector and agreed to sit for Hunter. Hunter visited him at the theatre during the rehearsals, and he did various sketches of scenes in the show, such as the present lot and lot 182.
