A MAGNIFICENT PRIVATE COLLECTION OF FINE AND RARE BORDEAUX INCLUDING CLASSED-GROWTHS OF CLASSIC POST-WAR VINTAGES
The following lots 507 to 653 represent a superb offering of some of the finest wines from Bordeaux. Lot follows lot of classic vintage after classic vintage of the most sought after Châteaux in the world. Highlights include many wines from the famed 1961 vintage - magnums of Lafite Rothschild, a full case of Cheval Blanc and a very rare case of Vieux Château Certan. Other rarities include full cases from the 1955 vintage including Latour, Mouton Rothschild and Haut Brion. This collection also features a smattering of wines from the recent highly rated vintages 1982, 1989 and 1990. Most of the wines were purchased from Christie's during the late 90's and have been stored since in professional storage facilities in central London and latterly at Octavian before being transferred to EHD. All of the wines have been inspected prior to sale by Christie's staff and levels noted. In these days of obsessions over levels and labels perhaps we should have adopted the past procedure and noted that all levels are good for age. This represents a golden opportunity to purchase rare wines with impeccable provenance - wines that only appear in this quantity at auction on fewer and fewer occasions.
