Pomerol, cru exceptionnel
Bin-soiled and sligtly torn label. Level upper-shoulder
Tasting Note: This wine is hugely impressive, with a lively depth of colour ; a bouquet that opens up gloriously. No question: sweet on the palate, full of fruit flavour and, for a big wine, elegant. Almost too rich at a tasting in 1986, showing perfectly at Artur Halle's wonderful tasting in 1987 despite the sommelier opening and decanting the wines in the wrong order. In fact it worked out well. We were confounded, its bouquet perfection, evolving fabulously; mulberries, blackberries, deft touch of ginger, and powering out effortlessly. Two hours in the glass and only starting to fade. All the components in the mouth. 'Almost too nice' and 20 out of 20 awarded by me at one tasting. My last note happens to be one of the most unbelievable ever made. April 1999 **** M.B.
