Château Haut-Brion--Vintage 1982
Pessac (Graves), 1er cru classé
Lots 697 and 698: Excellent appearance and levels. Lots 699: Excellent appearance. Levels: nine at 2.5cms or better and two at 3cms
Tasting Note: 12,000 cases made, far fewer than the other 1er cru classes. So different in style, so good - and a totally different cépages mix, roughly 50/50 cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, on the deep Pessac soil. A glowing, mature, tile-red; sweet, now very soft, rich, complete. Tannin assimilated. Superb. Harmonious nose; interesting on the palate: sweet, elegant, stylish…by now showing considerable maturity with an orange edge; rich bricky bouquet. Nov 1999 **** (*) Good life ahead. M.B.
