The base shaped oval, set on four scroll feet, with scroll border and applied grapes, applied with an Earl's coat-of-arms and coronet, the frame with grapevine, set with two cut-glass bottles with silver mounts, the bottles engraved with the Earl's full armorials, marked under base, each frame, and bottle covers with maker's mark only, the wing nuts with standard mark
9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) high; 40 oz. (1251 gr.) weighable silver

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Berkeley, as borne by Thomas Moreton FitzHardinge Berkeley, 6th Earl of Berkeley (1796-1882) of Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire.
