Baluster form, on a shaped circular base, with chased leaves at intervals, the body divided into vertical panels with leaves and poppies, with an everted and shaped rim, marked under base and stamped S/BQ

Lot Essay

The Martele records indicate this vase was one of two made by William L. Hughes and Preston L. Forrest. It required 36 hours of labor. The vase was chased by George W. Sauthof for 51 hours and cost $128. (See Larry Pristo, Martele: Gorham's Art Nouveau Silver, 2002, p. 426).
