During the summer of 1890, Jules Le Ray vacationed with his family on the Island of Groix in Brittany and it was here that he met the painters of the Pont-Aven School and decided to join their group. This Pointe de Beg Antorn au Finistère is a perfect example of the adoption of the Pont-Aven style by the young painter from Nantes. Inspired by the surrounding landscape, the artist celebrates colour with short, vivid brushstrokes, far from any faithful representation of nature.
