This study for a fan perfectly fits with the Nabi esthetics by its size and purpose. Indeed, the Nabi were less interested in painting with an easel than with all forms of decorative art, designing programs, costumes and screens for the theatre or paintings for home interiors. The Nabi style is here characterised by the harmonious and soft tones of the landscape, the flat forms of the characters and by the flowered fabric effects of the central figure's skirt.
