MARQUIS DE LAGUICHE
The Marquis de Laguiche owns 2 hectares in Le Montrachet which is sold entirely to Joseph Drouhin. The two entities work together to develop a strict viticulture program executed by the Marquis' staff while Drouhin handles the harvest, vinifies and bottles the wines. The vines are from a special parcel on the Puligny side Montrachet giving the fruit classic mineral, pear and white flowers notes. This results in a highly expressive wine full of character and one of the longest lived, intense and magnificent of all white burgundies. Only around 100 cases are imported in the United States each year. 1978 was a great vintage for White Burgundy as the outstanding ripeness was balanced by vibrant acidity giving wines from the top domaines excellent legs.
Montrachet--Vintage 2002
Côte de Beaune, Marquis de Laguiche, Drouhin
In original wooden case
" Spices, minerals, ginger, and pears can be discerned in the aromatics of the 2002 Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche. Harvested at 14.1 natural potential alcohol, it is a deep, medium-bodied, sappy wine with an admirably long finish. This is consistently the wine Maison Drouhin gives the longest elevage to, something the 2002 will benefit from, as it needs to flesh out its somewhat tight mid-palate. Projected maturity: 2006-2015." Pierre Rovani, Wine Advocate # 151 (February 2004)
