TOKAJI FROM THE DR. LASZLO COLLECTION
Oenologist, Dr. Olah Laszlo discovered these unique older wines during his professional explorations of several old cellars throughout Hungary, during the early 1960s while working for the Satoraljauhely for the National Wine Institute. Realizing the values of these treasures, he hid them carefully from the Soviet occupying forces. Since Tokaji wines are a symbol of freedom in Hungrary, it was not until the fall of the Iron Curtain did he dare think of sharing these special wines with wine lovers around the world. All the wines for these were recorked at the end of 2005 by Dr. Laszlo with the original cellar moulds, cladosporium cellare, re-attached around the cork. The Eszencia 1855, 1856 and 1858 were discovered in the cellar of Duke Breinzheim in Màd. The Tokaji Aszu Eszencia 1874, 1876, 1880 and 1888 were discovered in the cellar of Szirmay Ödön in the village of Satoraljauhely in glass bowls and were filled in 0,5 l Tokaji bottles. Tokaji Aszu Eszencia 1920, 1927, 1934 and 1937 were discovered in the cellar of Count Andrassy Gyorgy in Tàllya
