No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… 顯示更多 The Compton Pottery The Compton Potters' Arts Guild, was established by Mary Seton Watts (d.1938), the wife of the Symbolist and portrait painter and sculptor George F.Watts (d.1904), producing decorative terracotta work in the village of Compton, near Guildford in 1895. The deep red tarracotta was dug from a seam of gault clay which ran through the grounds of Limnerslease. The grey terracotta, see lot 243, was offered to compliment stone houses, this clay was bought in. (Hilary Calvert Compton Pottery, Guildford, 2006).
