FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED BY CARTIER-BRESSON TO GUSTAV ZUMSTEG, the great collector of 20th-century art and owner of the famed Kronenhalle in Zürich. In his inscription the photographer modifies the title from 'Les' to 'quelques Européens'. 'The Decisive Moment is one of the greatest of all photobooks, and Cartier-Bresson repeated its artistic success three years later with The Europeans' (The Photobook). This French issue, unlike the simultaneous American co-edition, was published without a dust-jacket and without a separate booklet of captions. The Photobook, vol.
