a New & Correct GLOBE of the Earth By J. Senex F.R.S; mid 18th Century
the sphere with twelve hand-coloured engraved gores to two polar calottes, the prime meridian named Meridian of London ungraduated, the equator graduated in degrees and named The AEquinoctial Line, the ecliptic graduated and with sigils of the Zodiac, with latitude scale along meridian at E165°, the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn delineated and Arctic and Antartic Circles the latter labelled Incognita, the location of the Antipode to London is marked, monsoons and trade winds depicted with arrows, Ansons voyage is tracked, California is a peninsula, Australia is named New Holland, Tasmania labelled New Zeland, New Zealand is absent, with tracks of Anson shown, with brass graduated meridian ring and brass hour circle, the paper horizon with compass points, months of year, and houses of the Zodiac named and with their sigils, mounted on four mahogany baluster legs with pad feet and cross-stretchers
