AN AUSTRIAN BIEDERMEIER CHERRYWOOD ORRERY WITH TIMEPIECE
circa 1830
the orrery with geared mechanism, with central yellow painted Sunball, orbited by Mercury, Venus and the Earth with orbiting moon (wood painted spheres), the circumference with celestial gouache depicting the houses of the Zodiac and their sigils, within a rectangular cherrywood display case with later hinged glazed lid, on square tapering legs, one side of the case with white enamel Roman and Arabic dial for the timepiece, key and crank key for manual movement
