Lot Essay

This is a main guidance computer that was used for shuttle operations, also known as a Space Shuttle I/O unit. The withdrawal date is marked on the IBM label as the 22nd of August 1989. The computer was flown during the late eighties either on Columbia or Discovery missions. I/O units like these were discarded by NASA when the ISO 9000 standards were introduced which required less units. This computer is one of 15 units that were discarded.
