in light blue synthetic fabric with indigo blue elasticated sides and waist, navy blue wool-mix wrists and ankles, internally fitted straps accessible via the external zips, with grey synthetic fabric covered pads and lining, each leg with externally attached stirrup made from cast metal covered in black leatherette plastic, with label printed 'Vladimir Lyakhov' in Cyrillic, embroidered MIR badge, and another embroidered with Cyrillic text above a white, red and blue flag

Lot Essay

Vladimir Lyakhov was selected as cosmonaut in 1967. Lyakhov was a Commander on the Soyuz 32, Soyuz T-9 and Soyuz TM-6, and spent 333 days, 7 hours, 47 minutes in space. He wore this 'pinguin' suit on Soyuz TM6 mission 1, to the MIR Space Station, launched on the 29th of August 1988. It was to be his last mission, Lyakhov retired in 1994.
