Reader; early 20th century
sectioned to show the operation of Readers centrifugal governor, the single wood-lagged cylinder 3 inch bore x 4 inch stroke fitted with bobbin piston valve driven by a single bronze eccentric rod, has bronze relief valves top and bottom, the crank shaft fitted with Reader's governor in a sectioned casing which controls through adjustable linkage a piston throttle valve in sectioned inlet port, the engine fitted with bronze cylinder lubricator, two 3-outlet bearing lubricator boxes (one outlet missing, no pipework), cylinder drain cocks and bronze maker's name plate, finished in brown with polished steel, iron and brass work
