LAS BOCAS, MIDDLE PRECLASSIC, CA. 900 - 600 B.C.
with flat bottom and slightly rounded sides incised with a "flame brow" motif of the Olmec Dragon-Serpent, and a stylized jaguar's jaw with bared fangs and large front teeth, the excised areas covered with deep red pigment.
Height 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.)
