A VICTORIAN SILVER EQUESTRIAN STATUETTE OF THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON
NO MAKER'S MARK, LONDON, 1850 (Marked on tail of horse)
The "Iron Duke" in the uniform of a Field-Marshal, wearing tail-coat, breast order & sash, aiguilette, plumed bicorn hat , breeches & boots, his horse shabraque with his insignia of rank at each corner, mounted on a naturalistic green cold-enamelled bronze base, probably originally from a larger centrepiece, (reins & implement in hand lacking), 6¾ in. high (17 cm.).
