Thinly potted with rounded sides flaring to a gently everted mouth rim, painted around the exterior with cobalt of deep sapphire-blue tones to depict a cluster of lotus flowers and leaves, alternating with two five-clawed dragons, each striding over further lotus leaves and flowers, the interior medallion with a descending dragon amidst lotus sprays within double circles, repeated on the mouth rim

Lot Essay
It is unusual to find bowls of this period with dragons striding amidst lotus sprays, as almost invariably the pattern is of dragons in pursuit of 'flaming pearls', admist clouds or scrolling lotus.
