The rounded body painted in purplish-blue tones with a dense lotus meander issuing curled leaves and tendrils, the short neck encircled by overlapping petals, all between double-line borders

Compare with similar jars from the T.Y. Chao collection, sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 18 November 1986, lot 75; and two other jars sold in these Rooms, 30 October 1995, lots 656 and 656A.

The present jar is an 18th century adaptation of the pattern on a late Ming jar, such as the example offered in this sale, lot 1460.
