A RARE SMALL BLACK TIXI LACQUER BRACKET-LOBED DISH
YUAN/EARLY MING DYNASTY, 14TH/15TH CENTURY
The shallow dish is formed with six lobes, carved in relief to reveal a thin red inner layer with concentric bands of ruyi cloud collars encircling a star-burst as the central medallion, with a further two bands of ruyi-heads to the slightly flared sides on the reverse

Lot Essay
This bracket-lobed dish with its lobed sides continuing down to the foot rim is characteristic of tixi lacquer dishes of the period.
