A WHITE JADE MOUNTAIN BOULDER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The mountain boulder in columnar form, carved in high relief on one side with an attendant carrying a qin, walking up a mountain path in pursuit of his master whose arms are raised in salutation, greeting a distant scholar who is standing outside a walled courtyard, detailed with tall pine trees, the reverse side carved with a small waterfall emptying into rocky crevices, variously growing further pine trees and vegetations, the stone of celadon-white tone with areas of opaque inclusions
