The brush handle of dark brown lacquer with bands spriraling down and around the waisted shaft, intricately decorated with minute iridescent mother-of-pearl inlay depicting flower-scrolls and geometric floral patterns within similar geometric and fine rope-twist horizontal borders, the cover similarly decorated, terminating at both ends with inlaid stellar roundels, Japanese wood box
