AN EXQUISITE COLOURED DIAMOND AND DIAMOND RING
THE PROPERTY OF A COLLECTOR The colour Green is synonymous with extreme rarity in the world of colored diamonds. Green coloration is a result of the diamond crystal coming in to contact with natural radioactive sources during the time following its ascension to the surface from the interior of the earth - a process which occurs over a time frame of millions of years, whereby carbon atoms within the diamond crystals lattice are dislodged forcing the stone to absorb a light spectrum that registers as the color green to the human eye. Modern technological advances have enabled scientists to utilize irradiation generated by nuclear reactors to alter the atoms in a diamonds crystal lattice hence producing an artifically created green colour. In order to authenticate the colour of a green diamond as natural or artificial requires sophisticated machinery and detailed reference to existing documented accounts - a process that poses as the greatest of gemological challenges, laboratories are cautious in their classifications owing to the ardous diagnostic task of classifying a Green Diamond with a "NATURAL COLOUR" designation. Green diamonds that achieve this certification are indeed sacred rarities.
