Lot Essay

Condition: 3B(ii)
Cosmetic: Light signs of wear.
Mechanical: Apparently working.
Lenses: Clean and clear, minor handling marks.

The fourth Royal Navy ship to bear the name HMS Exeter was a cruiser with six 8-inch and four 4-inch guns and took part in the Battle of River Plate and the sinking of the Graf Spee in December 1938. The ship was sunk by the Japanese on 1 March 1942 at the Battle of the Java Sea. The fifth HMS Exeter was launched in 1978.
