woodcuts printed in black, green and red, one in black, 1922, the set of eleven (including titlepage), artist's proofs, on cream Japan with wirelines, all signed in pencil and inscribed Handdruk, each sheet (varying in size) glued down along the reverse upper edge on greyish pulppaper, these with pencil platenumber inscriptions, with dedication De "etat des bois" der illustraties voor "Instincts" van Francois Carco aan Victor E. van Vriesland in gezellige herinnering van Jozef Cantré. Blaricum, 28 Augustus 1922 inscribed in pen and black ink on a separate page, apart from an occasional minor defect all prints in very good condition, the mounting sheets softly lightstained along the edges, all loose in the original soft cardboard wrappers, slightly stained and worn at the spine
