The elegant writing sofa table, whose trestle ends are fretted with palms issuing from urns that are supported on arched and reed-enriched 'claws', relates in scale to the popular drawing room sets of 'quartetto' tables as illustrated in George Smith's, Collection of Designs for Household Furniture, 1808 (pl.79). This rosewood table is likely to have accompanied the sofas (lot 25).
