Lot Essay

This golden squab-cushioned footstool is framed by palm-flowered and wave-scrolled volutes that would have harmonised with a fireside Grecian-sofa and reflects the robust Grecian Louis Quatorze fashion promoted by George Smith's, Household Furniture and Interior Decoration 1808, and The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterers Guide, 1826.
