William Atkinson's hand-drawn design for 'Drawers for Bedroom' is held in the Scone Palace Family Archive.

The rectilinear chest, executed in oak in the 'Elizabethan' manner, is embellished in the French-antique fashion with pilaster tablets framed in black ribbon inlay; and its stepped plinth raised on French stump feet. Its pattern, with quatrefoiled flowered tablets in place of trefoils, corresponds to that of the following lot (403).
George Bullock used ebony line-inlay in a similar fashion to that seen on this chest and on lots 400, 401, 403, 404 and 405.
