Lot Essay

The night-table, with bidet chest beneath a French-fashioned fall concealing a 'commode' compartment, has cusp-arched tablets sunk in the pilasters and façade fretted in cusped and lozenged compartments as featured in one of the Scone ceilings designed by the architect William Atkinson (d.1839).
