The twin-hinged top opening to reveal a lift-out chequerboard with an inlaid rosewood backgammon board below, containing twenty-eight turned wood counters carved with the Murray star (mullet) and an incomplete Staunton pattern ivory red and white chess set, on end standards with reeded feet, the underside with indistinct paper label

The 'Murray' sofa-table, with folding top concealing games-tables equipped with counters bearing the Murray armorial of a five-pointed mullet (star), is designed with robust plinth-supported pillars in the Grecian fashion promoted by George Smith's, Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1808, and The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterers Guide, 1826.

The underside is branded with the three Murray mullets which may have been used as an indentifying device for items at Kenwood House, London.
