Family tradition has it that the doll was a gift from Queen Victoria and Prince Albert presented during their visit to Scone Palace in 1842. The doll dates from the late 19th century and because of its unplayed with condition, it may have been a present given at a later date. Queen Victoria is known to have given similar elaborately dressed wax dolls to other children.
