A LOUIS XV ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX SET WITH AN ENAMEL MINIATURE
by Jean-Louis Bouillerot (fl. 1761-1781), marked, Paris, 1766/1767, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prevost 1762-1768, the flange engraved with retailer's name 'Du petit Dunkerque', later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold
Shuttle-shaped box, the cover, side and base panels enamelled in opaque white with trailing ivy gold paillons at the borders, the cover centred with an oval enamel plaque painted with a scène champêtre of a peasant girl crowning her lover with a wreath of roses, the frosted gold borders enamelled with a sky blue band twisted with two-colour gold acanthus, the tapering side pilasters hung with laurel swags, bright-cut gold rims
