Lot Essay

In the present miniature, Dubourg was clearly inspired by the works of his first cousin Jean-Baptiste Jacques Augustin such as the portrait of Madame van Hée of 1790 (illustrated in P. Jean-Richard, Miniatures sur ivoire. Musée du Louvre. Musée d'Orsay, Paris, 1994, no. 11).
