TWO GREEK BRONZE PLATE FIBULAE
GEOMETRIC PERIOD, CIRCA 750-700 B.C.
Both solid cast and hammered into three components, a thin catchplate, an arching bow, and a curving pin, the catchplate rectangular in form with one contoured side, finely engraved, one side of each with three fish within a decorative frame, all facing left on one fibula, all facing right on the other, the other side of each with a swastika on a field of triangles within a decorative frame, the outer surface of the bow bisected and rimmed with grooves, with ovoid beads at each end, the pin with an orthogonal top, coiled at the corner, the long pointed end secured in the upturned edge of the catchplate
