A GREEK MARBLE FUNERARY STELE
LATE CLASSICAL PERIOD TO HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA 4TH-3RD CENTURY B.C.
In the form of a naiskos, the flanking antae supporting an arch, the triangular pediment above centered by a plain circular shield, adorned with palmette acroteria, the scene depicted in high relief within, the central figure, likely the deceased, portrayed in a larger scale than the surrounding figures, draped in a himation over a short-sleeved chiton, holding a large foliate branch against the left shoulder, flanked by a bearded man on one side, also draped in a himation over a short-sleeved chiton, a woman on the other, her himation pulled over her head as a veil, two children at their feet, the one to the left depicted nude, holding the drapery of the deceased, a vessel in his right hand, preserving traces of original pigment, remains of iron and lead pins above the arch
