Lot Essay

For a related bronze from Chiusi, now in the British Museum, see no. 34 in Haynes, Etruscan Bronzes, where it is suggested that Hercle (Herakles) is intended. Both are missing the hands, but likely once held a club in the raised hand and a bow in the lowered.
